The journey so far; It's time to move on
With all great sense of responsibility, I dare say I am shocked with the way and manner APC carried out her just concluded primaries with greater impunity, arrogance and how politicians who shared the same Faith with me were treated with disdain and regarded as being inconsequential in the political permutations in Kwara state and now came to a climax with the just announced Muslim-Muslim presidential joint ticket in an heterogeneous, multi-ethnic and multi-religious nation like ours and coming at a time when Christians are becoming an endangered species, daily being targeted for slaughtering and kidnappings by extremists in their ungodly bid to exterminate the Christian Faith. For these and many other undemocratic actions by APC, I can no longer pretend that all is well.
How will I start to campaign for a political party that the only singular Christian candidate that won the primary at his constituency vying for National Assembly (Isin, Irepodun, Ekiti and Oke Ero Federal Constituency) seat out of nine seats in Kwara state (3 Senators and 6 Federal House of Representatives) was robbed of his candidacy just because he is a Christian. This happen in a Federal constituency with about 65% Christians population. Time and space will not permit me to go into the details of how primary election was not conducted at all in Share/Oke Ode State Constituency which happen to be my constituency and yet, Hon. Razaq Owolabi was arrogantly imposed on us.
How will I be in the fore front of campaigning for a presidential candidate who could not find any Christian party man or woman from the Northern part of the country suitable for the position of Vice President? Or how will I defend such anomaly that the core North will protect their religious interest above tribal interest should a Northern Christian candidate be selected, but that I should let go of my religion interest and support my tribesman instead? I have never being a religious jingoist as I blended very well with my Muslims friends, colleagues, political associates and family members.
It was Alexander Hamilton that said "if you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything"......
At this point, I chose to stand for fairness, natural justice and equality and above all, for my Faith in Christ Jesus.
I joined the then ACN in 2010 that later metamorphosed into APC in 2014 out of my volition believing the party will be a democratic party that will accommodates all interest and aspirations of her members democratically, but the recent events have prove that only selfish interests is what matters to our leaders irrespective of what the masses wanted or yearns for.
I hereby humbly renounce my membership of APC forthwith and relinquish all hitherto assignment or responsibility that I may have been championing as a party member.
I will humbly declare my next political move soon at the end of my consultations with like minds and political gladiators in my ward, since all politics is local.
Finally, I will like to appreciate the hands of fellowship extended to me by one of my political mentors; Hon. Benjamin Dairo Oyinloye (DaddiBen) when our path crossed in APC and throughout the struggle for Oro Ago ward to be considered to represent Share/Oke Ode Constituency being the only district out of the four districts that made up the constituency that is yet to represent the constituency since the return of democracy in 1999. The struggle continues for the actualisation of this aspiration sir.
To all my friends whom we have bonded together in APC all these while, I am optimistic that we will reunite again soon.
