BRAVO, OYETOLA THE GOVERNOR. By Comrade Adekunle Samson

Change in govermment neccessarily does not imply change in policies and programmes of the previous government, but since what is constant in cultural actions is change; it is obvious that policies and programmes of the previous government may not meet the present reality, thus some past policies and programmes need be ammended, readjusted and readapted. This exactly concerns the present executive governor of Osun State, Governor Oyetola. Since he was sworn in November 2019, he has taken giant strides which included revitalization of community health care, redemption of pension arrears through bond, systematic redemption of salary arrears to workers and of greatest pleasure and satisfaction to majority in the state is the reversal of school system to 6-3-3-4 and abolishing of common uniform in Osun schools. I am also very much aware of some other silent remoulding of past government programmes. In all these, i congratulate Governor Oyetola for taking those bold steps. For all these, bravo, Oyetola, the governor!

My reasons for congratulating the governor is not far fetched. Firstly being an engine room of the previous administration, he has accepted that policies of the government can not be cast in iron and needs not be fixed permanently. He has also demonstrated sincerity of purpose; and to me this goes beyond being egoistic. Rather it is a demonstration of listening to the voices of the public.

While wishing the governor more success in his administration, i am looking forward to see the governor:
1. Unlocking the local government councils and securing their sincere autonomy for local communities to reap the dividends of democracy. This will transform the decayed local infrastructure that is prevailent in the state at present.
2. Revitalising agriculture sector by ensuring the genuine creation of farm settlements and direct support for real local farmers.
3. Repositioning of our progressive family (APC) by resolving all partisan crises and embracing all warring factions. The governor needs to properly place our real local gladiators in the party.

As the governor resets the state, i wholesomely commend him and his team; and wish him greater success.
